Anastasiya Markovych

oil painting · fantastic realism

Anastasiya Markovych is a surrealist painter born in Briceni. She began her artistic path in 1990 at the Art School in Chernivtsi, graduating with distinction. Her talent was quickly recognised internationally, leading to numerous solo and group exhibitions at home and abroad — including the National Museum in Lviv, Bucharest, London and Kyiv, where she was a guest of honour invited by the Ministry of Culture of Ukraine.

In 2007 her contribution to art was recognised by inclusion in the catalogue “The World of Levkas”, under the patronage of the President of Ukraine. In 2009 she began studies at the Faculty of Graphic Arts of the Jan Matejko Academy of Fine Arts in Kraków, again graduating with distinction. For many years she was associated with the studio of Tomasz Sętowski in Częstochowa.

Today she works in two studios — in Częstochowa and Kołobrzeg. It is there that her latest paintings are created, combining classical painting with a personal vision and rich symbolism. Her work is valued for its emotional depth, distinctive aesthetics and unmistakable style.

„Each of my paintings is an artistic creation, but also a tremor of my heart, an attempt to paint mysteries. I use oil paints to convey the richness of colour and the depth I see in stars, galaxies and nebulae.”
Anastasiya Markovych
„Certainly an important, if not the most important, argument that speaks to the viewer is the great technical mastery that Anastasiya achieved at such a young age.”
Tomasz Sętowski
